spiced tea/chai:
Put in a pot:
2 bay leaves
6 cardamom pods
12 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon anise or (better) a couple star anise
1/2 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
1 teaspoon fresh or ground ginger
7 cups water
you can add half of a vanilla bean. they've become really expensive.
Boil 5 minutes.
Let stand 10 minutes.
Add 2 tea bags, black or darjeeling.
Bring to a boil.
Let stand 5 minutes.
add 6 teaspoons honey
add one cup milk or soy milk.
Bring back to almost boil.
That's all. It gets spicier as it sits around but it's good right away.
