ISLAND CABIN

in this hot springs people are talking to each other
rapidly filling in the gaps to create their universe
they're pretty young it's mostly joy
the crowd is in and out of the steam cloud
over here is a large metal coil, like a static spring
you can climb it and I do
I am up a few rungs
stepping around slower people making way for faster
and I think oh good I like my swim suit
then I'm up high enough to die from the fall
I agree to be afraid only in my head and chest, not the limbs
and sort of stuff the adrenaline into my shoulders and hips
one cycle and it's cool
why did I want to climb?
there's no one up here not heaven either
possibly more hot springs
maybe those are snow monkeys or maybe trees
